In the course of time, this search for our true nature, for the truth of
who we are has been described in numerous ways according to the
tradition it was associated with.
In the tradition of Zen Buddhism this description of the search took the
form of a series of short poems and accompanying woodcuts that are
intended to illustrate the different stages of the practitioner's
progression towards enlightenment.
These woodcuts & poems are known as the “Ten Bulls” or “Ten Ox
Herding” pictures.
